US consumer prices rise at fastest pace in 30 years

Andrew Hunter, senior US economist at Capital Economics, said the inflation reading underlined the “intense” pressures triggered by persisting supply issues. “Even when those effects eventually fade, rising cyclical pressures are likely to keep inflation unusually high,” he said.
