Halifax House Prices (Oct. 23)

The increase in the Halifax house price index in October confirmed that house prices are rising, suggesting that the high cost of borrowing alone is not sufficient to trigger the leg down we predicted. With mortgage rates having declined slightly and the labour market likely to remain supportive, we are now likely to pare back our forecast for house price falls in our forthcoming Outlook.
