Has the general election changed the consumer outlook?

With the Conservatives achieving an overall majority in the general election, we now know that consumers are set to face another five years of harsh austerity. But on the whole, households look better placed to deal with it than they did at the start of the last parliament. Accordingly, whilst we think that the consumer recovery will lose a little pace next year, the outlook still looks bright.
