South Africa’s Mine Production (Jul.)

South Africa’s overall mine production remained subdued in July, dragged down by yet another fall in PGM output. However, the profitability of the PGM industry has continued to improve owing to higher prices. Looking ahead, with wage negotiations having reached an impasse, we think that there is an increased risk of strike action over the coming weeks and this could lead to a further drop in production.
