- While today’s decision to leave the ECB deposit rate at 2.0% was expected, President Lagarde used the press conference to signal that interest rates will rise. Unless there is a big drop-back in energy prices and/or slump in indicators of activity, it seems likely that the ECB will raise rates by 25bp in June.
