Key takeaways from Trump’s visit, new Korea forecasts

US President Donald Trump’s visit to Asia this week led to the signing of several trade deals that should, at the margin, lend modest support to regional economic growth. This may, in turn, strengthen the case for central banks to deliver fewer rate cuts than previously anticipated.

Separately, we have revised our interest rate and GDP growth forecasts for Korea in light of stronger-than-expected Q3 data released earlier this week and the central bank’s recent hawkish guidance.
