Nigeria Consumer Prices (Aug.)

Nigeria’s headline inflation rate rose again to an almost-18 year high of 25.8% y/y in August, as the effects of the removal of fuel subsidies and the weakness in the naira continue to bite. We expect the central bank to respond with a large interest rate hike later this month but there’s a clear risk that officials once again underwhelm.
