Drop in Polish savings rate points to consumer slowdown

The strength of Polish consumer spending over the past couple of years has only been made possible by a run-down in the household savings rate. But with the savings rate now at a record low and real income growth likely to remain subdued, we think that consumer spending is set to slow over the coming quarters. This should pave the way for interest rate cuts.
