QE to be extended, but not yet

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) is likely to maintain its current course at its May policy meeting, leaving interest rates unchanged at 0.5% and voting to complete the £75bn programme of asset purchases it began back in March. “Taylor Rule” style analysis of the required level of policy support suggests that it will have to extend that programme, but this is unlikely to be decided until June’s meeting.
