Venezuela opposition supermajority confirmed, Maduro out?

Venezuela’s electoral council has finally conceded that the opposition won a two-thirds supermajority in Sunday’s legislative elections and this is certainly a game changer. It will give the opposition power to change the constitution and could next year facilitate a popular referendum to remove President Nicholas Maduro from office. This in turn would trigger fresh presidential elections. But while a political shake-up is imminent, any shift in economic policy is likely to be smaller.
