Recent developments have strengthened the ruling BJP’s hand in the Rajya Sabha (the upper house of parliament). This should help to ease the passage of economic reforms, provided that the BJP has the appetite to pursue them. Efforts over the past month to push ahead with contentious land and labour reforms at the state level suggest that this is increasingly becoming the case.
