Can we trust the data?

Questions are again being asked about whether we can trust China’s economic data. Our attempts to track the speed of the economy using our China Activity Proxy do not support suggestions of widespread manipulation. But they do suggest that growth was somewhat weaker than the official figures showed in Q1 and that growth slowed further in annual terms this quarter.
