EM Drop-in: Romania and Poland elections – Gauging macro and market risks

Fears that the final round of Romania’s presidential election on Sunday will result in a shift to the far right have caused havoc in the country’s financial markets in recent weeks. How will the election outcome shape the country’s economy and financial markets?

Join our Emerging Europe team this coming Monday, 19th May at 1100 BST for an election post mortem as they unpack the results and their implications for Romania’s economy. The team will be answering your election questions as they also tackle the results of Poland’s presidential vote, which takes place on the same day. During this 20 minute session, the team will address key topics including:

  • If Romania’s government can tackle the economy’s large twin deficits;
  • Whether the Polish government’s reform agenda will restart.
