  • Capital Economics Graduate Scheme, applicable dates: September 2022 - present

Why did you apply to join the Capital Economics graduate scheme?

I’ve always been fascinated by macroeconomics, and when I discovered Capital Economics- whose sole focus is precisely this field of economics- it immediately seemed like the perfect fit. The more I read about the Graduate Training Scheme Program, the more excited I was about applying. I realised that rotating across teams would provide me with a clearer understanding of the intricacies of the world economy. Plus, working in different small teams meant I could learn a lot through the direct mentoring of experienced economists, who had specialised for years in their niche. Finally, the opportunity of obtaining another masters’ degree while working for the company was an additional reason that appealed to me.

What have you worked on while on the graduate scheme?

I’ve been a part of the Emerging Markets team and helped with their regular publications. The topics covered ranged from fiscal sustainability concerns across EMs to the evolution of tightening cycles in response to inflation in different EM regions, as well as the abandonment of the zero-COVID policy in China and its impact on activity in EMs.
