Emerging Markets Roundtable
Opportunities and risks in the shadow of US trade protectionism
Wednesday 25th June 2025
Capital Economics, 100 Victoria St, London SW1E 5JL
9:00am | 12:30pm
It’s been a pivotal year for emerging markets – and we’re not even halfway through. These economies have been buffeted by Donald Trump’s trade agenda, even as some emerge as potential winners from the reordering of global supply chains away from China. And they’ve had to contend with capital outflows, weaker commodity prices, and financial market turbulence.
Which of these economies are showing most resilience, and which remain vulnerable as global pressures mount? Ahead of the deadline for the expiry of Trump’s 90-day reciprocal tariffs pause, our economists will explore these shifting dynamics in a special in-person roundtable.
This is your chance to hear their latest thinking, ask questions, and exchange views with peers across the industry. In this hour-long informal discussion the team will be addressing key issues including:
-
The outlook for the US-China trading relationship;
-
What the reordering of global supply chains could mean for EMs;
-
If EMs will welcome or reject China’s efforts to find new markets.
