Bigger house price falls loom

One result of the rise in near-term interest rate expectations is a deterioration in the outlook for global housing markets. We already expected house price falls in a handful of countries. Now those falls look set to be bigger, while corrections are likely to be seen in a wider range of countries. This is one reason to expect central banks to reverse course fairly quickly once the inflation genie is back in the bottle.
