Mortgage Applications (May)

Despite mortgage interest rates falling to 18-month lows, mortgage applications for home purchase declined steadily over May. Concerns over the health of the economy, and a lack of inventory, is weighing on buyer sentiment. Neither of those factors will improve over the remainder of the year, and home purchase demand is therefore set to just hold its ground even as mortgage rates edge back further.
