Will soaring materials costs slow housebuilding?

Inflation in the cost of construction materials has soared as resurgent new home development led to strong demand at the same time as supply was still recovering from disruption due to the pandemic. It is likely to peak soon as supply disruptions ease, but robust demand will ensure it remains elevated. Even so, with house prices booming higher input costs are unlikely to dent housebuilding volumes.
