Denmark weak in Q3, Sweden powered ahead

The Nordic and Swiss Q3 GDP data revealed large differences between the best and worst performing economies. A quarterly contraction of 0.6% meant that Denmark underperformed the rest of the pack by a large margin. The drop in GDP was mainly due to a second consecutive fall in consumer spending. The second weakest performer was Finland, but growth was still respectable, at 0.4%. And the breakdown was fairly encouraging, revealing strong growth in investment for the eighth consecutive quarter.
