Turkey Consumer Prices (Aug.)

Turkish inflation jumped again in August, reaching 17.9% y/y, and it is likely to rise even further over the coming months. The central bank has just stated that the inflation figures will prompt a change to the monetary stance at September’s MPC meeting, but this is likely to involve a rate hike of around 200bp rather than the 700-1000bp that the markets want to see.
