Indonesia: rates to remain on hold this year

Bank Indonesia (BI) left interest rates unchanged at its meeting today, and given the improved performance of the rupiah as well as the less hawkish tone of the central bank’s press conference, we are taking out the two rate hikes that we previously had pencilled in for later this year. We now expect interest rates to remain unchanged throughout 2019.
