Policymakers still struggling to turn the tide in markets

While the US Congress remains deadlocked over the fiscal response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fed has once more stepped into the breach with another massive monetary policy support package. Although we expect that legislators will eventually get their act together as well, even the combined efforts of monetary and fiscal policy are unlikely to be enough to generate a sustained recovery in stock markets.
