A significant shift in borrowing trends

The Reserve Bank of Australia will have been pleased to see more evidence that the housing market is cooling at the same time that the outlook for business investment is improving. If recent trends continue then it won’t be long before, for the first time in eight years, the stock of loans to businesses is rising at a faster rate than the stock of outstanding mortgages.
