Commercial Property Lending (Jul.)

July’s increase in real estate debt was mostly driven by residential loans, but commercial property debt also ticked higher. However, with investment totals weak in Q2, this could simply reflect the deferral of loan payments in the worst-hit sectors. Accordingly, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see outstanding debt secured against property hold-up over the next few months.
