Malaysia: central bank signals gradual tightening cycle

Bank Negara Malaysia today raised its main policy rate by 25bps to 2.25% and reiterated that further tightening would be gradual. With the economy on the mend but inflation still low, we are sticking with our view that the policy rate will be raised by a further 50bps this year.
