Jonathan Loynes is our Chief Economist. He has overall responsibility for managing our team of economists and over-seeing our research, as well as developing the firm’s products and its relationship with clients. He is also a director of the company. He has over 20 years’ experience in analysing economies and financial markets and has written articles in the Financial Times and a number of other newspapers, as well as appearing regularly on TV and radio.
Prior to joining Capital Economics in 2000, Jonathan was Chief UK Economist at HSBC in London. As well as working for the Treasury, Capital Markets and Equity divisions of the group, he was also an adviser to HSBC’s ALCO Committee and was part of the team regularly voted first in surveys for the provision of research to the gilt market. He holds degrees in Economics and International Banking & Finance from the universities of Bath and Southampton.
