Neil Shearing is Capital Economics’ Chief Emerging Markets Economist, with overall responsibility for coverage of emerging Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. Together with Mark Williams (Chief Asia Economist) he is also responsible for our Emerging Markets Overview service.

Neil is the first point of contact for many subscribers to our EM services and presents regularly to our clients on the economic and financial market outlook for the emerging world. A recognised expert on emerging market economics, he is well known within the investment community and is one of the most frequently quoted EM economists in the media.

Neil joined Capital Economics from HM Treasury where he worked as an Economic Adviser in various areas, including fiscal policy and global economics. He holds degrees in Economics from the University of York and the University of London and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
