Colombia elections: Reasons not to fear a Mockus victory

We think that concerns that the possible election of Antanas Mockus as President of Colombia could spark a sell-off in the markets are overdone. While his unorthodox approach may cause some market turbulence in the short-term, Mr. Mockus has a good track record as Mayor of Bogota and is better placed than Juan Manuel Santos to restore trade relations with neighbouring Venezuela.
