An improvement in October but recovery still fragile

Recent survey based evidence, including today’s Economy Watchers’ Survey, has indicated a pick-up in activity in October following three consecutive months of decline. However, a continued recovery is far from assured. In today’s other data, the increase in bank lending in October may indicate a lack of alternatives forms of credit rather than an increase in the demand for finance to support higher output.
