Polish growth: losing some steam

Although today’s preliminary estimate of 2011 GDP growth surprised on the upside, the Polish economy slowed in the fourth quarter of last year. Poland is better placed than its neighbours to weather the fallout from Europe’s debt crisis, but it is still not immune. With key export partners sliding into recession and fiscal policy now tightening, we expect growth to slow to a below-consensus 1.5% this year.
