Policy easing in India won’t save the day

The latest fiscal and monetary policy initiatives unveiled this weekend in India are unlikely to boost its flagging economy. With exports plummeting, industry facing a severe credit crunch and confidence dented by the recent terrorist attacks, we continue to expect GDP growth to slow to around 5% in 2009, well below the levels seen in recent years.
