Global risks may delay policy tightening

Inflation remains a concern across most of the region. Central banks in Taiwan and Thailand have hiked their policy rates in recent weeks, while the central bank in Malaysia increased its reserve requirement ratio. More policy tightening is likely this year. However, worries over slowing global growth and the sovereign-debt crisis in the euro-zone may prompt some policymakers to postpone monetary tightening in the near term.
